The essence of this project is simply to get good B and V absolute photometry for four V~12mag stars in two fields. The science is to test to see whether the very old photometry of Walker & Hardy (1955, PASP, v67, p224) is correct, as any deviations from modern values will result in systematic offsets in the brightness of Pluto (for which these stars are the designated comparison stars). The old photometry of Pluto results in required albedos >100% (which is unphysical), so I suspect that the old photometry is wrong, which would likely be due to the usual problem in olden days of the absolute calibration. But the comparison stars can be corrected even now, so that the correct Pluto light curve can be used to determine realistic albedos. 2. The project requires photometric conditions. If the night has scattered clouds, try the run anyway as I might be able to distinguish clear data by consistency. If the night is blatantly non-photometric, then just take the T Pyx UBVRI observations and then use the time as appropriate for projects that can use non-photometric conditions. 3. The primary targets are stars at V~12, so working into moderate twilight is fine. Indeed, astronomical twilight starts around UT08:00. So my observing window is from UT07:00 (when the stars rise above 2 airmasses) to around UT08:30 (when the sky gets too bright). To maximize the number of visits(and to include standards and T Pyx before the primary targets get high enough), start at around UT05:30. Time prior to UT05:30 can be used by any other program that can use the time. 4. Check to make sure that the coordinates are correct. No finder charts are needed, as the coordinates are fine. 6. Getting good Landolt standards is the name of the game here. Please use the chosen Landolts, as they'll presumably give a reasonable coverage over airmass and number of stars.
