2006 August Prague

  • Wenceslas Square, right in the most expensive part of town.
  • The view was great.... the noise was terrible.
  • Though the bored dancing girls did help to liven things up.
  • A local specialty.
  • Shared with us by the McAlisters.
  • That's them, Susan and Hal.
  • Theo being his normal charming self.
  • Ashley being her normal charming self.
  • A dinner with the SUSI guys.
  • Madeline and Sallie always have enough to chat about.
  • Still chatting away.
  • Breakfast came in an extremely bright room and way too early.
  • The conference was indeed on.
  • Despite the lovely weather we spent most days indoors arguing about Pluto.
  • Morning Coffee at the conference.
  • Tim Bedding even made an appearance.
  • Gerard stationed loyally at his poster.
  • Proud to vote for Pluto.
  • The conference kindly provided us with lots of young Czech people in orange T-shirts.
  • See how many people turned up for the vote?
  • Voting in progress.
  • The lady that discovered Pulsars explains it all to us.
  • We voted on many things, most of the rather silly.
  • Another fine Italian meal in Prague.
  • Despite the smile, she thought I was Gerrit's Grandfather. She got a lousy tip.
  • Breakfast with the McAlisters.
  • We were forced to share a single computer.... and we didn't fight too much.
  • Theo amuses himself more than Gerrit.
  • The toilet tree was just outside our Hotel.
  • Small streets made us feel like we were in a D&D game.
  • Compulsory shot of Steph eating ice cream.
  • Impressive clock and excellent land mark.
  • Nearby, I'm still not sure if I should get some Armour.
  • Pancakes, beer and pig meat. What a city!
  • Did we remember to bring a mage and a thief with us?
  • If not, we can always use the child as a shield.
  • Speaks for itself really.
  • Stephanie got attacked by the road.
  • Just to prove the damage was real.
  • Happy campers on a local bridge.
  • Sallie wants the knee.
  • Another bridge. There are a lot of these.
  • This one was full or artists and musicians.
  • Sallie knows Theo's good side.
  • See what I mean? How can any bridge be complete without a jazz band?
  • More bottom shots.
  • The bored dancing girls came by almost every day.
  • I have no idea what Steph is up to here.
  • Castle in the distance, though if you ask me it's really a Palace.
  • Sallie leading the way as always.
  • The smallest street yet.
  • A rest by the bank.
  • It did actually rain some of the time.
  • View from the Palace walls.
  • The Church inside the Palace.
  • The fountain inside the Palace.
  • Yet another Palace view. We did spend all day there after all.
  • Palace guards. We saw young women testing them and they don't actually move at all.
  • Back down the dreaded hill towards home.
  • This time we took the metro.
  • The computer time is shared by all, though Sallie seemed to get the best of it.
  • Prague also had street cafes to be proud of.
  • Brian and I had the biggest beers we could find.
  • Brian then moved on to something not available in the US...
  • Absence!
  • Ashley refuses to try some.
  • Same cafe, another day.
  • We got the idea that Barbara had done this sort of thing before.
  • The current and former GSU party.
  • Ashley models a hat made by Theo.
  • Funny what skills stick on your mind. The paper tricks amused Gerrit for a while.
  • Never eat a pizza bigger than your head.
  • Sallie inspecting her map in fine detail.
  • A girl, a baby and an old building.
  • Another girl with a view.
  • We also eat some excellent Afghan food.
  • Deepak particularly enjoyed the vegetarian selection.
  • More quality time at the street cafe.
  • English food at a pub? Why the hell not.
  • Stephanie showing her personality.
  • Can you guess? That's right, another stop at a cafe!
  • The historic Jewish grave yard.
  • Kepler is in there somewhere.
  • Our favorite clock is a favorite with wedding parties too.
  • Meanwhile, back at the cafe Bill entertains Gerrit.
  • Sallie is entertained also.
  • Even Deborah is amused.
  • Sallie and her personality.
  • Something was interesting. Wish I could remember what it was.
  • Theo and his personality.
  • Brian sure can be fun to have around.
  • A view from below of the main tourist bridge.
  • Once again we found ourselves on a boat tour.
  • We saw many bridges and islands.
  • That's one of the islands.
  • We also got to ride in a lock.
  • Many restaurants were down stairs.
  • Sallie's other personality.
  • No Sallie, Gerrit is above the table.
  • Our shared bus ride to the airport, once again far too early.
  • Down towards our planes.
